Our Mission

Our mission is to provide affordable multifamily rural housing solutions that foster thriving communities, enhance quality of life, and promote economic stability. Through innovation, collaboration with the USDA’s Rural Housing Services, and a commitment to sustainability, we strive to create welcoming environments where individuals and families can flourish, regardless of income level. By addressing the unique needs of rural areas, we aim to bridge the gap in housing accessibility, ensuring equitable opportunities for all residents to access safe, comfortable, and dignified housing options.

Today, RMLC members have roughly 90% market share of the RHS Section 538 program, a public-private finance partnership authorized by Congress.

How did The Rural Multifamily Lenders Council form?

RMLC's History

RMLC is a group of Multifamily Lenders that focus on the housing needs of Rural America and work primarily with USDA Rural Housing and their Multifamily 538 Loan Program. The core purpose of RMLC is to promote more efficient processing, underwriting, and closing of 538 Loans throughout the United States. RMLC has worked diligently to collaborate with the senior members involved in the 538 Loan Program to identify, assist, and provide appropriate input to further assist in the production of much needed Multifamily Affordable Housing. Additionally, RMLC also works to promote and educate congress on the benefits of this necessary housing.
